Hybrid Optics

The combination of diffractive functions with conventional optical elements such as lenses in one element offers diverse possibilities for optimizing complex optical systems. This concerns both their optical functionality and the mechanical construction.

Hybrid refractive/diffractive elements of this type are used at Fraunhofer IOF in a range of application fields. These include uneven spectrometer gratings or highly compact focusing optics for ultrashort laser pulses.
