International symposium „Sensing with Quantum Light“ from September 15th – 18th, 2019 in Bad Honnef: Science and industry discuss quantum sensor solutions

Already last year, international physicists came together at the QUILT Autumn School to discuss quantum-based imaging. With this year's symposium "Sensing with Quantum Light", the meeting entered its second round. A total of 42 participants from Germany, Europe, the USA, and Singapore discussed innovative solutions in photonic quantum sensor technology.

The four-day event brought together renowned scientists, physicists and industry representatives. Interested young scientists also took part in the international symposium at the Physics Center Bad Honnef.

Around the central question "How can conventional photonic quantum states be used to extend the limits of conventional measurement technology in imaging, spectroscopy and analytics", a varied lecture program was created, ranging from reports from basic research to insights from industry.

The Fraunhofer IOF and the Fraunhofer IPM had invited. Together with the Institute for Physics of the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, a program committee was formed, which was responsible for the workshop. The meeting was supported by the Fraunhofer flagship project QUILT (Quantum Methods for Advanced Imaging Solutions). The QUILT consortium deals with the use of silicon detectors for measurements in the UV, infrared and terahertz ranges - an innovation that was also discussed at this year's symposium in Bad Honnef.
