Compact light scattering measurement system – Fraunhofer IOF at Photonics West 2013 in San Francisco

Date /

The Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Optics and Precision Engineering (IOF) in Jena are presenting new developments in optics, laser technology, production, and imaging at this year’s Photonics West. One exhibit will be a table-top light scattering measurement system.

This compact system allows for high sensitive measurements of angle resolved light scattering, reflectance and transmittance of optical and non-optical surfaces, materials and components within the entire 3D-sphere. Because of its high sensitivity it can be used for quality control to measure primarily the surface structure of products. It is also effective for measuring satellite mirror systems and sparkling gems.

Photonics West in San Francisco was established in 1995 and is the most important fair for optics and photonics in North America. This year it takes place from February 5. to 7. Approximately 20,000 visitors and more than 1,300 exhibitors are expected to attend the event. The most important players in the German optics and photonics industry are all participating. The world’s most important fair for optics and photonics is implemented in the scientific conference. At this event more than 50 talks will be given by researchers from Jena. This year’s LASE-symposium for laser technology is being chaired by Professor Andreas Tünnermann, the director of the Fraunhofer IOF.
