Laser Systems

The Fraunhofer IOF works in close cooperation with the Institute of Applied Physics at the Friedrich Schiller University in Jena (IAP). The IAP has extensive experience in the application of ultrashort laser pulses, in particular in the field of micromaterial processing with ultrashort pulses.

Mirror and lens systems are developed for beam shaping in telescopic arrays for a range of wavelengths. The optical and mechanical design forms the basis for the system development. Modern manufacturing methods such as diamond processing and polishing enable optical components with low form deviation and low-scatter surfaces with minimal roughness. Applications in the visual and ultraviolet spectral range can increasingly reveal roughnesses in the sub-nanometer range.

The Fraunhofer IOF and IAP contribute their longstanding scientific experience to developing and analyzing processes for innovative laser systems.
