More women in photonics and applied optics

For the "Fraunhofer Science Campus 2023" on 23 and 24 March, we invite female students and graduates from STEM subjects to gain hhands-on insights into our research and to become active themselves.

The "Fraunhofer Science Campus" has a declared goal – more smart women in applied science. We would like to invite female science graduates and students from the 4th semester onwards to spend two days looking behind laboratory doors and getting to know the exciting research and application fields of optics and photonics. You will experience the diverse career opportunities at Fraunhofer IOF firsthand – also through personal exchange with other researchers. After all, who could give better insights than the fantastic researchers already working at our institute?

The workshop on "Understanding the principle of multi-aperture imaging using a laboratory setup" was a great success in 2016.

The participants of the Science Campus will learn more from our PhD students directly in the lab about quantum imaging, scattered light as an analysis tool for cell biology or the impact of soldering processes in optical components, depending on their interests. They can explore their own competencies in workshops and acquire important skills for starting their career by means of "design thinking". They can also learn more about quantum physics or our space research in interactive lectures. Personal networking will also not be forgotten at the Science Campus – whether on a guided tour through the optics city of Jena or at the joint lunches and dinners.

Interested? Register now!

No matter if you are interested in an internship, a thesis/dissertation or a direct career entry – or maybe you just want to "get a taste" – apply now and network with each other and our researchers during two exciting days. We are looking forward to your visit!
