Lasers

Optical fibers and waveguides are key components in photonic systems for a multitude of applications. Active fibers, in particular, make possible innovative light sources with extreme optical parameters. In this respect, novel fiber designs, concepts, couplers, amplifiers, components, end caps and splices play a crucial role.

On the basis of this, the Fraunhofer IOF has developed laser systems with varying wavelengths, ultrashort pulses and power ratings up to the multi-kilowatt range. Fiber lasers are of considerable significance here.
