We develop and manufacture photonic integrated circuits based on state-of-the-art material platforms such as lithium niobate on insulator (LNOI) and silicon nitride (SiN). From conception and design to prototype production, we offer solutions for demanding applications in optical communication, sensor and quantum technology.

With application-oriented research, direct wafer processing and close cooperation with industry, we are driving the development of innovative photonics solutions.

Lithium Niobate (LNOI)

Nonlinear optics on wafer scale

 

Wafer-based production of photonic circuits with a focus on electro-optical modulation, frequency conversion and quantum technologies. LNOI enables high nonlinear efficiency, low losses and compact integration.

Silicon Nitride (SiN)

CMOS-compatible Platform for Passive PICs

 

Scalable SiN waveguide technology with minimal losses for telecom, sensor and quantum technology. Including ring resonators, MMI and grating couplers.

Hybrid integration

Best properties combined

 

LNOI and SiN are combined through chip-to-chip bonding or membrane transfer - for compact systems with extended functionalities.
Combining LNOI and SiN through hybrid integration enables novel photonic systems. This allows electro-optical actuators to be efficiently combined with passive high-performance waveguides.

Technical Equipment for Integrated Photonics

Our production takes place on 4- and 8-inch wafers with high-precision electron beam lithography, dry chemical structuring processes, automated characterization and a clean room environment. Designs are realized and iteratively adapted via our PDKs.

Our Research Strength

We conduct applied research in the field of integrated photonics with a focus on quantum technologies, nonlinear optics and hybrid systems. Several patents on electro-optical devices and domain-structured waveguides have been filed. Licensing of our technologies is possible on request.
