The first Quant-Bridge workshop provides insights into state-of-the-art quantum communication with easy-to-understand concept descriptions and hands-on experience to get in touch with quantum technologies. Furthermore, presentations from experts not only from research but also from industry give examples and challenges for the application of quantum communication. The whole workshop is designed for interactive sessions with a lot of room for questions and discussions to spark your curiosity.

In the framework of SQuaD, a project funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), the Fraunhofer IOF is conducting this regular workshop series transferring knowledge about current research of quantum communication and its application to industry and general public to reduce barriers and enhance the early adoption of quantum technologies.

The Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Optics and Precision Engineering IOF in Jena conducts applied research in the field of photonics and develops innovative optical systems to control light – from generation and manipulation to its application. The services offered by the Institute cover the entire photonic process chain from optomechanical and optoelectronic system design to manufacturing of custom-specific solutions and prototypes. Furthermore, individualized consulting services are offered for quantum technologies and their application. 

Current focuses of our research activities include freeform technologies, micro- and nanotechnologies, fiber laser systems, quantum optics, and optical technologies for safe human-machine interaction. The institute operates in the business fields of Sensors & Metrology, Opto-mechanical Systems, Light Sources & Lasers, and Quantum Technologies.
