Working with disabilities at Fraunhofer IOF

You can find all the opportunities for joining the Fraunhofer IOF here.

We look forward to meeting you!

Barrier-free working environment

We actively promote the inclusion of people with disabilities and are committed to making the working environment at our institute more accessible step by step. Therefore we strive to develop a barrier-free working environment at the institute and to offer individual support. Because we know that not everything is 100% barrier-free here either.

To ensure that all employees can develop their full potential, we have already achieved a number of things: our workstations are ergonomically designed. Employees can use height-adjustable desks and individually adjustable office chairs.

Flexible working is part of this. Because we understand that rigid structures are not suitable for every employee. That's why we have flexible working hours, enable part-time work and offer mobile working in many areas. In individual cases, we take individual care, find solutions and equip workplaces according to requirements - if necessary, also in cooperation with the integration office.

For example, we have equipped meeting rooms for an employee with a hearing impairment so that he can hear everything in meetings with many people. A sign language interpreter can also be organized for him if required.

Mental Health

Our employees can access a wide range of workshops, seminars and lectures on topics such as mental health and well-being free of charge via an online platforms. The extensive range includes helpful information on autism, ADHD and high sensitivity. In addition, a free advice hotline is available to our employees for difficult situations and phases in their professional and private lives.

Participation in the inclusion coaching program

We want to create awareness for the topic of inclusion. To this end, we participate in a comprehensive coaching program and are supported by experts in inclusion and accessibility. This program promotes awareness among our employees of the needs of people with disabilities. Among other things, we look at different disabilities and the associated needs

We learn about ways in which we can create an accessible environment for applicants and employees. And we get to know networks and partners with whom we can work together to improve the employment of people with disabilities.

Representative body for severely disabled persons

Our representative for severely disabled employees, Dr. Stefan Riehemann, actively promotes the interests of employees with disabilities. He accompanies job interviews and ensures that no one is disadvantaged because of a disability. He provides support and advice on issues relating to health problems, health-friendly workplace design and the recognition of severely disabled status.
