Remain innovative and think future-oriented in photonics

Fraunhofer IOF starts international professional development program for the optics and photonics industry

Jena / October 07, 2020

The Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Optics and Precision Engineering IOF is launching a new international professional development program for managers in the optics and photonics industry. With "Photonics Manager Compact" the institute will provide insights into the current research and development landscape of photonics. The course, that will take place in Jena from February 22 – 26, 2021, thus prepares for questions of the future. In addition, it teaches methods of contemporary personnel management.

"Photonics Manager Compact" shows the future of photonics

With this program, Fraunhofer IOF wants to support decision-makers in the field of optics and photonics to react to upcoming challenges in photonics industry. Therefore, the course focuses on the latest technologies as well as their application potentials and innovation opportunities.

Compact knowledge from different areas of photonics

The program is implemented in cooperation with lecturers from the "Abbe Center of Photonics" at the Friedrich Schiller University of Jena. They will communicate the latest findings of the institute in a five-day English-language educational program.

The course has a modular structure: The first modules deal with laser technologies, optical coatings, measuring systems, quantum technologies and the design of optical free-form elements. In an additional module, innovative leadership methods are taught, enabling participants to lead their respective teams in line with the latest findings of the Appreciative Leadership Model.
